Update: Fatal Girei Road Accident Claims Six, Suspected Driver Arrested.

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that six people lost their lives in a fatal motor accident along Girei Road on September 4, 2026.

The Command said it has arrested 32 year old Kabir Idris, a resident of Wuro Jabbe in Yola South Local Government Area, in connection with the accident.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect’s actions contributed to the crash that resulted in the deaths of the six victims.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court after the completion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, commiserated with the families of the deceased and assured the public that the Command would continue to enforce traffic laws and promote safety on highways across the state.

The Police Command also urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving and exercise caution to prevent further loss of lives on the state’s highways.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to holding traffic law violators accountable and ensuring safer roads for residents of Adamawa State.
