A 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, has died after undergoing a penis enlargement procedure during a holiday in Thailand.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, a UK coroner ruled that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic procedure.
Ubiribo, who was also known as “Tiny”, “Denisi” and “Ego”, reportedly underwent penis filler injections containing hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic in Bangkok in March.
After the procedure, he and his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, reportedly went for a massage at their hotel, where he complained of chest pain and later collapsed.
He was taken to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors suspected a pulmonary embolism. Medical staff reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for more than 100 minutes, but he died in the early hours of March 6.
A UK postmortem found cellular material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the procedure. Pathologist John du Parcq told the inquest that the findings were consistent with a pulmonary embolism and matched the Thai autopsy findings.
Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently concluded that Ubiribo’s death was caused by a pulmonary embolism resulting from the cosmetic procedure.
Ubiribo, who had about 185,000 Instagram followers, was known for documenting his affluent lifestyle. His funeral in London was attended by Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, who reportedly described him as a childhood friend.
