Four Nigerian clubs, Enugu Rangers, Rivers United, Shooting Stars and El Kanemi Warriors, will begin their respective campaigns in CAF club competitions this weekend, as they seek to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
The opening fixtures provide the NPFL representatives with an opportunity to challenge the perception that Nigerian clubs lack the consistency and institutional strength to compete deep into continental competitions.
Nigerian clubs have historically enjoyed success in African football, but their recent campaigns have often been marked by early exits, administrative challenges, squad disruptions and inconsistent performances.
However, the four representatives enter this year’s campaign determined to change that narrative and demonstrate the quality within the domestic league.
