The House of Representatives will host Kendra Gaither, president of the US Chamber of Commerce’s US-Africa Business Center, on Monday, October 26, as Nigeria seeks to strengthen commercial ties with the United States and attract fresh investment.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, has accepted a request to receive Gaither and her delegation at 3 p.m., according to Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, chairman of the House Committee on Nigeria-USA Parliamentary Relations.

Onuakalusi disclosed the arrangements during a committee meeting on Friday, explaining that the engagement builds on earlier contacts established during the committee’s visit to the United States in May 2025, when members met representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce.

The committee is working to turn those relationships into practical economic opportunities through a framework for sustained engagement with American businesses.

As part of the programme, committee members are also expected to meet the visiting delegation at a dinner hosted by the US Embassy in Abuja on Sunday, October 25. The delegation is also scheduled to tour the National Assembly, including its chambers and library, to learn more about Nigeria’s legislative institution and explore possible areas of cooperation.

The committee is seeking to involve Nigerian entrepreneurs directly in the discussions, with the aim of connecting local businesses with American investors and identifying viable commercial partnerships.

The planned visit offers an opportunity to move beyond diplomatic exchanges towards practical cooperation in trade, investment and private-sector development. Its longer-term impact will depend on whether the discussions lead to concrete business commitments and sustained engagement.
