Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged northern leaders to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the region’s persistent security challenges, calling instead for greater responsibility and collective action to address insecurity.
Fintiri made the call while speaking on the worsening security situation affecting communities across northern Nigeria, stressing that the region’s leaders must play a more active role in finding lasting solutions to the crisis.
The governor argued that continued blame directed at the Federal Government would not resolve the security problems confronting the North, urging political, traditional and community leaders to work together to tackle the underlying causes of insecurity.
According to him, northern leaders must strengthen cooperation with security agencies and support initiatives capable of restoring peace, protecting communities and creating opportunities for young people.
Fintiri also emphasised the importance of addressing poverty, unemployment and other socio-economic challenges that can contribute to insecurity, noting that security efforts must go hand in hand with meaningful development.
His remarks come amid renewed concerns over attacks, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity in several parts of northern Nigeria.
The governor’s position adds to the growing debate over the respective responsibilities of federal, state and community authorities in confronting the region’s security challenges.
