Hundreds of teenagers and young adults in Ogun State have pledged to reject cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices following a youth sensitisation programme organised by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV.
The engagement was held during the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026, according to a press release issued on Monday by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi.
The programme, conducted by the Ogun State POCACOV team under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, was aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge and values needed to resist negative peer pressure and criminal activities.
During the interactive sessions, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi and members of the POCACOV team highlighted the long term dangers associated with cultism, gang violence, substance abuse, cybercrime and other social vices.
The police explained that involvement in such activities could destroy promising futures, endanger lives and undermine peace in schools and communities.
Participants were also encouraged to embrace self discipline, positive peer influence, personal accountability and responsible leadership.
The engagement ended with a collective pledge by the youths to uphold high moral standards, resist criminal activities and serve as anti vice ambassadors in their schools and communities.
The Ogun State POCACOV reaffirmed its commitment to sustained community policing and youth focused preventive programmes aimed at reducing crime and promoting safer communities across the state.
