Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran has completed a move to Aston Villa Women ahead of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season.

The Premier League club’s women’s team announced the signing of the 22-year-old Nigeria international on Sunday, with the transfer subject to visa approval.

Imuran becomes Aston Villa’s ninth signing of the summer as head coach Natalia Arroyo continues to strengthen her squad in preparation for the new campaign.

The talented full-back began her professional career in the Nigeria Women’s Football League, where she featured for Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels before making the move to France.

She spent two seasons with Stade de Reims, making 27 league appearances and scoring seven goals. In 2024, she moved to England to join London City Lionesses, gaining further experience in the English game.

At international level, Imuran made her senior debut for Nigeria in 2022. She was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

She had previously represented Nigeria at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Imuran expressed her excitement after completing the move to Aston Villa, saying she was eager to contribute to the club’s ambitions.

“I’m very excited to be here and I want to achieve a lot of things,” she said.

“It’s a big club with a lot of history, and it has big ambitions, and I want to be part of it.”

Aston Villa Director of Women’s Football Marisa Ewers welcomed the Nigerian defender, highlighting her pace, energy and experience as qualities that could strengthen the team.

“Rofiat is an exciting young defender who already has good experience in English football and at international level,” Ewers said.

“She brings pace, energy and quality to our defensive options, and we believe her attributes are a really good fit for how Natalia wants the team to play.”

Ewers also said the signing formed part of Aston Villa’s wider ambition to build stronger links with African football and identify promising talent from the continent.

“As a club, we have ambitions to build stronger connections across Africa and continue to identify and develop exciting talent from the continent. Rofiat’s arrival is another positive step in that direction,” she added.

Imuran will now look to establish herself at Villa and play a key role as the club prepares for the demands of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League campaign.
