Seven people have died while two others sustained injuries in a multiple road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The fatal accident occurred around the Ibafo area of the expressway in Ogun State in the early hours of Monday, August 24, 2026.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, said three vehicles were involved in the crash. They included a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter.
According to the Ogun State Sector Command, nine male persons were involved in the accident. Seven of them died, while two others sustained injuries and were taken for medical attention.
The FRSC said its Ibafo Outpost received information about the crash at about 4.04am and arrived at the scene around 4.09am.
Preliminary findings identified speed violation as the probable cause of the crash, although the FRSC said further investigation would be carried out.
The deceased victims were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured victims were taken to receive medical treatment.
The incident has once again raised concerns over speeding and road safety along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
