The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a historic N323 billion in revenue collection for July 2026, its highest monthly revenue figure since inception.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed the record during the command’s monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers and heads of units.

The July performance surpassed the command’s previous record of N304 billion, recorded in October 2025.

Oshoba attributed the latest achievement to a combination of government policy support, operational reforms, improved compliance by stakeholders and the adoption of technology-driven processes.

He specifically highlighted improvements to the B’Odogwu digital system, saying the platform had overcome earlier operational challenges and was now contributing significantly to the command’s performance.

He also credited the One-Stop Shop initiative, which has helped improve cargo clearance and delivery times, as well as the Authorised Economic Operator framework, which currently has more than 200 beneficiaries.

According to the Customs controller, intelligence-driven enforcement operations have also strengthened compliance by helping officers detect false declarations and enforce proper valuation procedures, thereby protecting government revenue.

Oshoba further attributed part of the improved performance to greater stability in the foreign exchange market, which he said had enabled businesses to plan better and conduct international trade with increased confidence.

He urged officers to sustain the momentum while maintaining transparency, professionalism and discipline. He also directed personnel to prioritise trade facilitation, resolve disputes promptly and ensure compliance with approved documentation and post-clearance audit procedures.

The Customs boss described the record collection as a significant milestone but urged officers to regard it as a foundation for achieving even greater results before the end of 2026.
