A family in Edo State has appealed for financial assistance to raise N11 million for the continued treatment of their daughter, Favour Augustine Emoshorame, who is battling Stage IV Wilms’ tumour, a form of kidney cancer.

Favour, whose father, Akhilo Augustine, is a civil servant in the state, has been receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. However, the family said financial difficulties have caused repeated delays in her chemotherapy and other aspects of her treatment.

According to the family, Favour’s health challenges began with what appeared to be a minor stomach ache in November 2023 before her condition gradually worsened. She was later diagnosed with severe damage to her left kidney and referred to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

A medical report signed by a consultant paediatrician, Dr Okosun O.A., stated that Favour presented at the hospital in February 2025 with abdominal swelling and persistent abdominal pain. She was subsequently diagnosed with Stage IV Wilms’ tumour in May 2025.

The report also noted that her chemotherapy was delayed several times, with some treatment sessions missed because of financial constraints.

In 2025, doctors at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital removed Favour’s left kidney in an effort to save her life. Her elder sister, Blessing Augustine, said the family had spent more than N30 million on surgery and other treatment, supported by contributions from relatives, friends and well wishers.

Despite the surgery, Blessing said Favour later developed abdominal pain and swelling again, requiring continued treatment.

She disclosed that Favour’s monthly chemotherapy costs more than N400,000, including medication and other related expenses.

“We have sold everything we have and spent everything we could raise on her treatment. We are appealing to compassionate Nigerians to help us save her life,” Blessing said.

The family is now seeking N11 million to continue Favour’s cancer treatment and meet other medical expenses at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

Members of the public willing to support the family can donate to Wema Bank, account number 0450909702, account name Augustine Favour Emoshorame. For further enquiries, the family can be reached on +234 805 826 4535.
