The Kano State Government has appealed for urgent intervention and additional vaccines following a diphtheria outbreak that has reportedly claimed 50 lives in the state.

The government said the shortage of vaccines is raising concerns as health authorities work to contain the spread of the disease and protect vulnerable residents.

Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection that can spread through respiratory droplets and close contact. Vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to prevent the disease.

Authorities are expected to intensify vaccination and public health measures while appealing for increased supplies to support efforts to contain the outbreak.
