Microsoft has opened its largest data center hub in India, expanding its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure as competition for the country’s rapidly growing AI market heats up.
Located in Hyderabad, the new facility brings Microsoft’s total number of cloud regions in India to four. Adani Group and HDFC Bank are among the early customers using the new infrastructure.
The expansion is part of Microsoft’s broader investment in India, where the company plans to commit about $20.5 billion to strengthen its cloud, AI and digital operations.
With more than 1 billion internet users and a large technology workforce, India has become an increasingly important market for global cloud and AI providers.
Microsoft’s move also intensifies competition with other technology giants investing heavily in Indian AI infrastructure.
