The Federal Fire Service has announced that it has successfully addressed the water and fuel supply challenges that previously hindered its emergency operations, a development expected to enhance the agency’s response capacity across the country.
Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Abdulganiyu Jaji, said the intervention has significantly improved the Service’s operational readiness, enabling firefighters to respond more effectively to fire outbreaks and other emergencies.
According to the Controller General, the agency has strengthened logistics and resource management by ensuring a more reliable supply of water and fuel for fire trucks and emergency response vehicles.
He noted that the improvements form part of broader reforms aimed at modernising the Service, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing response times during emergencies.
Jaji explained that adequate access to water and fuel is critical to firefighting operations, adding that resolving the supply challenges has increased the agency’s ability to protect lives, property and critical infrastructure.
He also disclosed that the Federal Fire Service is continuing to upgrade its equipment, expand training programmes for personnel and improve collaboration with state fire services and other emergency management agencies.
Stakeholders welcomed the development, noting that improved operational capacity would strengthen public safety and enhance the country’s emergency response system.
Safety experts stressed the importance of sustained government investment in firefighting equipment, water infrastructure and personnel development to ensure the Service remains adequately prepared to respond to emergencies nationwide.
They also called for stronger public awareness on fire prevention and compliance with safety regulations to reduce the incidence of fire outbreaks in homes, markets, industries and public institutions.
Analysts believe the resolution of the operational challenges marks an important step toward improving the effectiveness of the Federal Fire Service and reinforcing public confidence in the country’s emergency response framework.
