We Paid N50m to Secure Kebbi Judge’s Release – Family

The family of a kidnapped judge in Kebbi State has disclosed that it paid a ransom of N50 million to secure the judicial officer’s release after weeks in captivity.

Speaking after the judge regained freedom, family members said the payment was made following prolonged negotiations with the abductors, expressing relief that the victim was released unharmed despite the traumatic experience.

According to the family, the decision to meet the kidnappers’ demands was taken as a last resort after exhausting other options to secure the judge’s safe return. They appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to tackle the growing menace of kidnapping and improve security across the country.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the persistent insecurity affecting parts of Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom have continued to pose significant threats to residents, public officials, and travellers.
