Israeli Strike Kills Palestinian, Destroys Mosque in Gaza as Settler Attacks Escalate in West Bank

Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip killed at least one Palestinian, wounded dozens of others and destroyed a mosque sheltering displaced civilians, while Israeli settlers carried out fresh attacks against Palestinian families in the occupied West Bank.

According to Al Jazeera, Israeli warplanes struck the Al Muttaqin Mosque near the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) building in Gaza City on Tuesday after issuing a brief evacuation warning. The attack destroyed the mosque and nearby tents housing hundreds of displaced Palestinians. Residents said they had only a short time to flee before the strike.

A separate Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp killed one Palestinian and injured more than a dozen others after hitting a crowded market, according to local health officials.

Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el Balah, said Palestinians remain trapped in a cycle of fear as continuing air raids leave little time for civilians to seek safety.

The attacks came despite ongoing international efforts to maintain the U.S. brokered ceasefire framework announced last October. Israel’s security cabinet recently approved a measure that could allow members of an international stabilisation force to enter Gaza under the proposed arrangement.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers reportedly attacked a Palestinian family in Abu Najim, near Bethlehem, setting fire to their home after torching a vehicle and spray-painting graffiti on the property. The Palestinian Red Crescent said eight family members fled the burning building without reported fatalities.

Palestinian officials also accused Israeli authorities of expanding land confiscations in the Jenin governorate. According to the Wafa news agency, military orders have seized approximately 200 dunums (about 20 hectares) of land for the construction and expansion of military roads linked to new Israeli settlement outposts.

Palestinian officials say settler violence and land seizures have intensified in recent months, further increasing tensions across the occupied West Bank.
