Construction has commenced on the road linking Kofare Layout in Yola to the 20.8 kilometre Adamawa Super Highway dual carriageway, marking another significant step in the ongoing expansion and modernisation of Adamawa State’s capital.
According to a statement by the Adamawa State Government, the project is part of the administration’s broader infrastructure development agenda under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, aimed at opening up new areas for development, improving connectivity and supporting economic growth across the state.
The newly commenced road project is designed to provide a direct connection between Kofare Layout and the Adamawa Super Highway, one of the major road infrastructure projects initiated by the Fintiri administration.
The 20.8 kilometre Adamawa Super Highway dual carriageway is expected to improve the movement of people and goods, reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion within and around Yola metropolis.

The linking road is also expected to open up previously less accessible areas for residential, commercial and other forms of development, thereby supporting the planned expansion of the state capital.
The Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Suleiman, FNICE, FNSE, supervised the ongoing clearance of the road corridor, marking the commencement of construction activities.
The development is part of the state government’s continued efforts to expand road infrastructure and improve accessibility through the construction of strategic roads that connect major communities and emerging areas.
Upon completion, the road is expected to enhance mobility between Kofare Layout and the Adamawa Super Highway, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, boost commercial activities and create new opportunities for investment.
The projects are also expected to contribute to the expansion of Yola by opening up new areas for development and improving access to communities that have previously faced transportation challenges.
The commencement of construction further underscores the commitment of the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to using strategic infrastructure development to drive urban expansion, stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life of residents across Adamawa State.
