A court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for advertising cannabis online, in a case that highlights ongoing efforts by authorities to combat drug-related offences and the illegal promotion of controlled substances.

According to court proceedings, the convict was found guilty of using online platforms to promote and advertise cannabis, an act that contravenes the country’s drug laws. Prosecutors argued that the activities encouraged the distribution and use of illegal substances and posed a threat to public safety.

The court, after reviewing the evidence presented, handed down a seven-year prison sentence, stressing the need to deter individuals from engaging in activities that promote illicit drugs.

Authorities have repeatedly warned against the use of digital platforms for illegal activities, including the sale and promotion of controlled substances. They have also called on members of the public, particularly young people, to avoid involvement in drug-related offences.

The conviction has renewed discussions about the growing use of social media and other online channels in facilitating criminal activities and the importance of strengthening monitoring and enforcement measures in the digital space.

Legal experts say the judgment sends a strong message that the misuse of online platforms for unlawful activities carries serious consequences and that offenders will be held accountable under the law.
