The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two men over the alleged operation of an unlicensed private security outfit known as Double Razzor.

The suspects were identified as Abraham Stephen Job and Adebowale Qazeem Adeniyi. Their arrest followed an investigation into the outfit’s licensing status and its authorization to provide bouncer and other private security services.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael Shola, disclosed the development in a statement, explaining that the alleged offences included operating a private security company without the required licence and providing regulated security services without statutory authorisation.

The NSCDC explained that it is legally responsible for regulating and licensing private guard companies in Nigeria. It warned that individuals and organization’s must obtain the necessary approvals before engaging in regulated security operations.

The State Commandant, Abbas Ndah Mohammed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing compliance and preventing unauthorized private security activities across Kwara State.

He urged event organizers, corporate organizations and members of the public to engage only licensed security providers to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and promote public safety.

The case highlights the importance of regulatory oversight in Nigeria’s private security sector. Ensuring that security companies operate with the required licences can help establish accountability and clarify the responsibilities of providers offering protective services.

The investigation into the allegations against the two suspects is ongoing.

The arrest highlights the importance of regulating private security companies to ensure that organisations providing protective services meet the required legal standards. Licensing helps authorities monitor security operators, establish accountability and determine whether they meet the requirements for providing such services. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to verify the registration and licensing status of private security companies before engaging them.
