Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are locked in a remarkable goalscoring battle as the leading marksmen of Europe’s top five leagues since the beginning of 2020.
Unlike the previous decade, which was largely shaped by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, neither superstar features among the current decade’s leading scorers after both moved away from European football.
According to figures reported by Planet Football, Mbappé currently tops the standings with 181 goals across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
Haaland is just two goals behind with 179, while Kane has 178. Robert Lewandowski completes the top four with 174 goals.
Mbappé built much of his tally during his time at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Real Madrid in 2024. The France international scored 31 La Liga goals in his first season in Spain and followed that with 25 in his second campaign.
Haaland has maintained an extraordinary scoring rate since joining Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. He registered 62 Bundesliga goals in 67 appearances before moving to Manchester City, where he continued his prolific form and scored a record 36 goals in his first full Premier League season.
Kane, meanwhile, has remained among Europe’s most reliable forwards since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in 2023. After scoring 30 Premier League goals in his final Tottenham season, he continued his form in Germany and reached 99 Bundesliga goals in 97 appearances.
Lewandowski’s 174 goals keep him fourth on the list. The Poland international began the decade with Bayern before joining Barcelona in 2022, where he won the La Liga scoring title during his first season.
Mohamed Salah is fifth with 128 goals, making him the highest-ranked player whose entire tally came in the Premier League. Lautaro Martínez follows with 122, while Serhou Guirassy has 103.
Jonathan David is eighth with 96 goals, followed by Ante Budimir on 94 and Ollie Watkins on 91.
Watkins has been one of Aston Villa’s most dependable scorers since joining the club in 2020, reaching double figures in each of his first six Premier League seasons.
The figures cover league goals scored in Europe’s traditional top five leagues since the start of 2020, with the race continuing to evolve as the decade progresses.
