Ingentia Plans Bigger Drilling Campaign After 150% Production Surge

Ingentia Energies Limited is preparing to expand its drilling activities after recording a 150 per cent increase in production, as the indigenous oil and gas company begins a new phase of growth under its recently appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Victor Agbaroji.

The production increase was recorded during the tenure of the company’s outgoing Interim MD/CEO, Charles Odita, who led the company from March to August 2026. The company’s board credited his administration with significant operational and strategic progress before Agbaroji assumed office on September 1.

Agbaroji has now outlined an expansion strategy focused on increasing drilling activity, improving the performance of existing assets and strengthening the company’s position in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry.

A major part of the strategy will be the use of data from an ongoing seismic acquisition programme to guide the next phase of drilling. Agbaroji said the seismic work would support a more efficient campaign, improve exploration outcomes and strengthen operational performance.

The new management is also targeting greater value from the company’s existing assets while seeking to improve cost competitiveness and expand its portfolio. Gas resources have been identified as another area where the company sees opportunities for additional value creation.

Crude oil evacuation infrastructure is also expected to play an important role in the expansion. Agbaroji said Ingentia would intensify efforts to advance its pipeline evacuation project, recognising that increased production would require reliable infrastructure to move crude from its fields to appropriate export or processing points.

The company has already recorded recent progress in its drilling programme. In August, Ingentia announced the successful drilling, completion and testing of two development wells in the Egbolom Field as part of its Phase One Field Development campaign. The wells were designed to access multiple hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir intervals while generating additional production and reservoir data.

The expansion comes against the backdrop of Nigeria’s wider efforts to increase crude oil production and attract more investment into the upstream sector. Indigenous producers have become increasingly important to the country’s production ambitions as operators seek to develop marginal and previously underdeveloped assets.

Earlier in the year, Ingentia had outlined ambitious production targets, including plans to increase capacity to 7,000 barrels per day and eventually reach 30,000 barrels per day by 2030. The company had also planned additional drilling as part of its field development programme.

The latest leadership transition is therefore expected to build on the production gains already recorded while placing greater emphasis on drilling, infrastructure and operational efficiency.

For Nigeria’s oil sector, increased output from indigenous producers could contribute to higher domestic production volumes and potentially strengthen government revenues, provided operators can sustain production and overcome challenges around financing, infrastructure, security and crude evacuation.

Ingentia’s next phase will consequently depend on how effectively it converts its recent production growth and drilling successes into sustained expansion across its oil and gas assets.
