The Federal Government has been urged to write off doubtful legacy debts owed by indigenous airlines as part of efforts to resolve recurring disputes surrounding the five per cent Ticket Sales Charge.
The call is aimed at addressing outstanding financial obligations that have continued to fuel disagreements between government agencies and local airlines over the payment of the statutory charge.
Proponents of the proposal argue that writing off debts considered doubtful could provide relief for indigenous carriers and create a clearer framework for compliance with the five per cent Ticket Sales Charge going forward.
The move is also expected to help reduce financial pressures on domestic airlines and promote greater stability within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
