Nearly Five Million Hit as Severe Flooding Worsens Across India

Severe flooding in India has affected nearly five million people, with the eastern state of Bihar facing one of the worst situations as heavy rainfall continues to push major rivers beyond danger levels.

At least 15 districts in Bihar have been affected, with floodwaters disrupting communities, damaging infrastructure and forcing authorities to intensify emergency response efforts.

The state has experienced persistent heavy rainfall in recent days, causing several rivers to swell further after already rising above their danger marks. The situation has left large numbers of residents in need of food, clean water, medicines and temporary shelter.

Authorities have established relief camps in affected areas, where displaced families are being provided with essential supplies and medical assistance.

The flooding has also disrupted transportation and daily economic activities in several communities, while emergency workers continue to monitor river levels and evacuate residents from areas considered particularly vulnerable.
