Delos Data, a semiconductor startup founded by former Intel employees, has raised $100 million to develop chips and software designed to accelerate data movement inside increasingly complex AI data centers.
The company is targeting a growing challenge in AI infrastructure: enabling different types of computing chips to communicate efficiently. As data centers expand beyond traditional GPU-heavy systems, Delos Data aims to provide networking technology that can work across a wider range of hardware.
The startup’s technology is designed to help data center operators connect and coordinate different processors while maintaining high-speed data transfer. The approach could become increasingly important as the industry shifts from AI model training toward running AI agents and other compute-intensive applications.
Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, now a partner at venture firm Playground, which participated in the funding, said inefficient communication between chips can waste significant amounts of energy and computing capacity.
The funding round included Matrix Partners, Playground, Socratic Partners, Capricorn, Matter Venture Partners, IAG and DYNAMIQ, highlighting growing investor interest in the infrastructure needed to support the next phase of AI development.
