The Kano State Police Command has arrested 79 suspects and recovered dangerous weapons and illicit drugs during coordinated security operations across the state.
The arrests were made before, during and after the 2026 Takutaha celebration as part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and maintain peace across Kano.
The command said the operations involved its Anti-Daba, Anti-Kidnapping and Violent Crime Response Unit, alongside personnel from several police divisions.
Police authorities said the suspects were arrested for various offences, while the recovered weapons and illicit drugs were taken into custody as investigations continue.
The command added that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
