The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, has cleared the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, of involvement in the activities of the purported agency.
The committee said it found no evidence that Gbajabiamila authorised, established or participated in the operations of the organisation.
The panel also said there was no valid law, executive order or other legal instrument establishing the purported agency.
The committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, said preliminary findings showed that Gbajabiamila took steps to alert security and investigative authorities after concerns about the organisation were brought to his attention.
The investigation also uncovered alleged forged government documents and financial records linked to the purported agency.
The panel said its findings were preliminary and would form part of its final report to the House.
