APC Campaign Council: Meet 14 governors tasked with delivering Tinubu in 2027

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, with 14 serving governors assigned strategic roles to mobilise support and strengthen the party’s chances of securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

The campaign council is headed by former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, serves as Secretary. President Tinubu is the Chairman, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as Vice Chairmen.

The 14 serving governors and their assigned responsibilities are:

1. Mai Mala Buni, Yobe State — Deputy Director-General, North I.
2. Hope Uzodimma, Imo State — Secretary of the campaign council.
3. Bassey Otu, Cross River State — Zonal Campaign Coordinator, South-South.
4. Peter Mbah, Enugu State — Zonal Campaign Coordinator, South-East.
5. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State — Zonal Campaign Coordinator, South-West.
6. Umar Bago, Niger State — Zonal Campaign Coordinator, North-Central.
7. Uba Sani, Kaduna State — Zonal Campaign Coordinator, North-West.
8. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State — Director, Finance and Treasurer.
9. Ahmed Usman Ododo, Kogi State — Deputy Director, Finance and Treasurer I.
10. Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State — Director, Fundraising.
11. Nasir Idris, Kebbi State — Director, Labour Union Relations.
12. Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe State — Zonal Coordinator, Stakeholders’ Mobilisation, North-East.
13. Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State — Stakeholders’ Mobilisation.
14. Dauda Lawal, Zamfara State — Stakeholders’ Mobilisation.

The composition gives the governors responsibilities covering regional coordination, fundraising, finance, labour relations and stakeholder mobilisation, reflecting the APC’s attempt to build a nationwide campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Several of the governors have significant political networks in their respective regions, while some, including Peter Mbah, Sheriff Oborevwori, Umo Eno and Dauda Lawal, are former opposition-party governors who have since aligned with the APC.

The campaign council is expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation and political engagement across the country as the APC seeks to retain the presidency and secure a second term for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

President Tinubu has charged members of the council to work towards victory for the APC in the 2027 election and urged party leaders to involve other members who can contribute to the campaign effort.
