Jalingo, Taraba State – Taraba State has reached a significant milestone in Nigeria’s security architecture following the approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division, with its headquarters in Jalingo.
As part of the new military structure, the Chief of Army Staff has appointed Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife as the pioneer General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 10 Division. The newly created division will be responsible for coordinating military operations across Taraba State and the border areas of Adamawa State, with the objective of strengthening security, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving border protection.
Major General Nnebeife brings extensive operational experience to the role. Before his latest appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Ibadan, and Force Commander, Sector 3 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA. He gained national recognition for leading the military operation that successfully rescued abducted schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an achievement that attracted widespread commendation.
The establishment of the 10 Division reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to reinforcing the nation’s security framework by expanding the Nigerian Army’s operational capacity in strategic regions.
Residents and stakeholders in Taraba State have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the presence of the new division and its experienced leadership will contribute significantly to improved security, stability, and socio-economic development across the state.
