Chippa United head coach Sinethemba Badela has described Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as one of the finest goalkeepers on the African continent, praising the Nigerian international for his consistency, leadership, and influence at both club and international level.
Badela said Nwabali’s performances have justified his growing reputation, insisting the 29-year-old has developed into one of Chippa United’s most valuable players since becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
According to the coach, the Nigeria international has consistently demonstrated composure under pressure, excellent shot-stopping ability, and strong leadership qualities, making him one of the standout goalkeepers in African football.
“Stanley is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa. His performances speak for themselves. He has shown great maturity, confidence and consistency, and we are fortunate to have him at Chippa United,” Badela said.
Nwabali rose to continental prominence following his outstanding displays for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a crucial role in helping the Super Eagles reach the final. His heroic performances, including several vital saves during the tournament, earned him widespread acclaim and established him as Nigeria’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
Since returning to South Africa, the shot-stopper has continued to impress in the Premier Soccer League, producing a series of commanding performances that have strengthened his reputation as one of the league’s most dependable goalkeepers.
Badela believes Nwabali’s professionalism and work ethic have also been key to his success, describing him as a role model for younger players within the Chippa United squad.
The coach added that the club hopes to retain the Nigerian despite increasing interest from clubs across Europe and other parts of Africa following his impressive performances for both club and country.
Nwabali has repeatedly been linked with moves away from Chippa United in recent transfer windows, but he remains focused on helping the club achieve its objectives while continuing to establish himself as one of Africa’s elite goalkeepers.
With Nigeria preparing for upcoming international competitions and the qualification campaign for future major tournaments, Nwabali is expected to remain a key figure for the Super Eagles as he continues to build on his impressive rise in African football.
