Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructure projects in Kano State, particularly the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway, which is expected to improve transportation and commercial activities across Northern Nigeria.

The governor made the remarks on Wednesday, October 21, while representing the President at the commissioning of a major section of the highway in Kano.

Yusuf disclosed that the Federal Government was undertaking infrastructure projects valued at more than ₦9.5 trillion in the state under Tinubu’s administration. He said the investments covered road construction, railway development and other strategic infrastructure.

According to the governor, the highway serves as an important transportation corridor for people, agricultural produce and commercial goods. He said its reconstruction would help reduce travel time, improve road safety and strengthen economic connections across the region.

Yusuf also highlighted other federal projects in Kano, including the Kano–Maiduguri Road, Kano Northern Bypass, Kano–Katsina Road, Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project and the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline.

Despite commending the ongoing interventions, the governor appealed to the Federal Government to prioritise the rehabilitation of the Eastern and Western Bypasses and other roads connecting rural communities.

The projects are expected to improve connectivity and support trade across Kano and neighbouring states. However, their long-term benefits will depend on timely completion, proper maintenance and improved access to reliable transport networks.
