The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a kidnapping victim and arrested two suspected members of a six-man abduction syndicate linked to the incident.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Hassan, was abducted on September 6, 2026, near Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt. He was reportedly taken to Igbugulu Waterside in Borokiri, where he was held for three days.

The victim was released after his relatives paid ₦10.3 million in ransom. Following information about the abduction, operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit launched an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Victor Ifeanyi, also known as “Big Boby,” and 36-year-old Aniekan Okon Michael, alias “Duff Man.”

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects admitted to their alleged involvement and disclosed that the gang consisted of six members who used a white minibus during the operation.

The command said efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate and bring them to justice.
