The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, identified as Muhamodu Sanni, while allegedly attempting to withdraw ransom money at a Point of Sale, POS, terminal in Ilorin.

The suspect was arrested following an intelligence-led operation targeting a kidnapping syndicate operating around the Obudu and Woru axis of Ilorin East Local Government Area.

According to the police, intelligence gathered on a ransom transaction led operatives to the POS terminal, where Sanni was intercepted while allegedly attempting to cash out proceeds linked to a recent abduction.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly provided information about two other suspected members of the syndicate, identified as Aminu and Umar. Police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the other suspects.

The command said the arrest represents a significant breakthrough in its ongoing operations against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
