Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini were both on target as Paris Saint-Germain continued their perfect start to the Première Ligue season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Fleury on Sunday.
Echegini doubled PSG’s advantage in the 36th minute, rising above the defence to head home and register her first league goal of the campaign.
Ajibade then extended PSG’s lead 13 minutes after the restart, scoring in the 58th minute to make it 3-0 and claim her third league goal of the season.
The Nigerian midfielder has maintained an impressive run of form, having also scored in PSG’s 5-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League victory over OH Leuven on Thursday. The goal against Fleury means she has now scored in consecutive matches.
Fleury managed to reduce the deficit with a late goal, but PSG remained composed to secure all three points and maintain their unbeaten start.
The victory means PSG have now won all four of their domestic matches this season, with Ajibade and Echegini playing increasingly important roles in the club’s strong opening campaign.
For Echegini, the goal provides an early boost as she continues to settle into her role with the French giants, while Ajibade’s continued scoring form further underlines her growing influence in the PSG attack.
The Super Falcons duo will now look to maintain their momentum as PSG continue their domestic and European campaigns.
