Former Olympic gold medallist and heavyweight world champion Ray Mercer is set to arrive in Lagos for the second season of The Street Rumble, as sports media organisation Brila joins the boxing event as its official broadcast partner.
Organised by Match Maker Sports International, Street Rumble Season 2 is scheduled for December 13, 2026, at Maracana Square in Ajegunle, Lagos.
Following the success of its inaugural edition in April, the event returns with an expanded vision focused on showcasing Nigeria’s emerging boxing talents and creating opportunities for young fighters to develop into future champions.
A major attraction of the second edition will be the special international ringside appearance of Mercer, who won Olympic gold for the United States in 1988 before becoming a world heavyweight champion under the WBO banner.
The organisers also announced Brila’s involvement as the official media partner, a partnership expected to give the grassroots boxing event wider coverage across Nigeria’s sports audience.
“We are excited to officially welcome Brila Media as the Official Media Partner of The Street Rumble Season 2,” said Mike Adeyemo, CEO of Match Maker Sports International.
Adeyemo said Brila’s established presence in Nigerian sports media would help expose the event and its young participants to a much larger audience.
“Brila Media has a strong presence in Nigerian sports media, and this partnership will help us take the Street Rumble story to an even larger audience,” he said.
He added that the organisers remained committed to using the platform to develop grassroots boxing and provide opportunities for talented young fighters.
“Our mission is to give young fighters a platform, promote grassroots boxing, and build a movement that can create opportunities for the next generation,” Adeyemo stated.
With Mercer’s international experience, Brila’s media partnership and a new crop of Nigerian boxers expected to feature, Street Rumble Season 2 is set to combine grassroots talent with global boxing experience when the event holds in Ajegunle.
