Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and the All Progressives Congress in the state have renewed their pledge to mobilise 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Okpebholo made the commitment during an APC mobilisation rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, where he presented the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections.
The governor said the APC had established a strong structure across Edo and urged party members to remain united and committed to its programmes.
He presented Ogbeide Ihama as the party’s candidate for the Senate, Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the Edo State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the rally, Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party was targeting 2.5 million votes for Tinubu and had commenced mobilisation across the state’s 18 local government areas.
Tenebe said the party’s mobilisation efforts would extend to communities and grassroots structures as the 2027 election approaches.
The 2.5 million vote target has been repeatedly stated by Okpebholo and the Edo APC. In July, Tenebe said the party recorded 2,158,600 votes in the local government election and described the result as an indication of its mobilisation capacity.
However, political opponents have questioned the feasibility of the target, while APC officials have described it as a mobilisation objective rather than a prediction of the eventual election result.
