Inter Lagos secured their first Nigeria Premier Football League victory of the 2026/27 season after defeating nine-time champions Enyimba 1-0 at the Enyimba Stadium on Saturday, further piling pressure on the Aba giants.
Ezekiel Moses scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute, rising above the defence to power a well-delivered cross into the net and hand Inter Lagos all three points.
The defeat was Enyimba’s third consecutive loss of the campaign, leaving the former champions without a point after three matches as their difficult start continues both on and off the pitch.
In Lagos, Sporting Lagos suffered a disappointing home defeat after Abia Warriors struck twice late in the game to secure a 2-0 victory at the Onikan Stadium.
Sporting Lagos, who had beaten Inter Lagos 3-0 in their previous outing, appeared set for a share of the points until Ikoi Etta broke the deadlock in the 88th minute.
Former NPFL top scorer Emeka Obioma then put the result beyond doubt two minutes later, scoring in the 90th minute to condemn Sporting Lagos to defeat in their first home fixture of the season.
Kano Pillars produced the biggest victory of the day at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where they thrashed Doma United 4-1 to register their second win of the campaign.
Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring for the hosts in the 20th minute before captain Rabiu Ali doubled their advantage 13 minutes later.
Doma United pulled one back through Sadiq Rilwan shortly after half-time, but former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa restored Kano Pillars’ two-goal cushion in the 77th minute.
Nasiru Salihu then completed the emphatic victory in stoppage time as Pillars climbed to third place with a game in hand.
Despite the heavy defeat, Doma United remained at the top of the table, having won their opening three matches before Saturday’s setback.
Defending champions Rangers also recorded their second victory of the season, beating Kun Khalifat 4-2 away from home.
Temitope Folarin gave Rangers the lead in the 27th minute before Preye Seikorowei levelled for the hosts three minutes before half-time.
Rangers quickly regained control, with Waheed Adebayo restoring their advantage in the 44th minute before Chimobi Igwilo extended the lead in the 66th minute.
Ayuba Umar reduced the deficit in the 84th minute, but Igwilo completed his brace six minutes later to secure another important victory for the champions.
Elsewhere, Wolves edged Kwara United 1-0, with Ejike Ezekiel scoring the only goal of the encounter in the eighth minute.
Plateau United came from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over Shooting Stars in Jos.
Taheer Abubakar put Shooting Stars ahead in the 15th minute, but Jibrin Ibrahim restored parity five minutes after the restart.
Seiyefa Jackson then completed the turnaround for Plateau United in the 71st minute before Gideon Monday added the third goal 15 minutes later.
Nasarawa United and Rivers United shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Rivers United went ahead in the 66th minute after Harrison Ebah turned the ball into his own net, but Nasarawa United rescued a point when Musa Yakubu converted an 84th-minute penalty.
The latest results have added further movement to an already competitive opening round of the 2026/27 NPFL season, with several clubs still looking to establish consistency at both ends of the table.
