Russia’s ruling United Russia party has won the country’s parliamentary election with 57.83% of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission, after more than 95% of ballots had been counted.
The result is an increase from the 49.8% the party secured in the 2021 State Duma election. President Vladimir Putin had presented the vote as a test of public support for Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The result is expected to give United Russia 355 of the 450 seats in the State Duma, allowing the party to retain its constitutional majority.
