The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Lagos transport union leader Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, of plotting to take over motor parks in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement, the party alleged that APC operatives are working with MC Oluomo to infiltrate transport unions and seize control of strategic parks, which they claim could be used to influence voter mobilization and intimidate opposition supporters.
Accord leaders warned that such moves threaten peace and stability in Osun, stressing that motor parks are vital economic hubs for thousands of residents. “We will resist any attempt to hand over our parks to external forces. Osun belongs to its people, not to political contractors,” the party declared.
The allegations come amid rising political tension in the southwest, where transport unions have historically played a significant role in election logistics and grassroots mobilization. Analysts note that control of motor parks often translates into political leverage, making them a contested space during election seasons.
MC Oluomo, who heads the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, has long been a controversial figure in Nigerian politics due to his influence over transport unions. Accord’s accusations suggest growing fears that his reach may extend beyond Lagos into neighboring states.
APC officials in Osun have yet to respond to the claims, but party insiders dismiss them as “political propaganda” aimed at discrediting the ruling party. Civil society groups, however, have urged authorities to investigate the matter to prevent unrest.
