Anthropic says its Claude AI system now leads 26% of the work involved in developing its next-generation AI models, highlighting the growing role of AI in AI research.

The company said Claude now collaborates with humans on more than 90% of its R&D work, up from virtually none earlier this year.

Anthropic also reported that about 30,000 AI agents were performing research and engineering tasks on its internal platform in August, with human oversight and screening of agent actions.

The figures reflect the rapid expansion of AI-assisted development and raise new questions about how AI systems could increasingly contribute to building more capable AI models.
