Health and legal experts have called on the Nigerian Government to strengthen patient safety measures across the healthcare system as the country joins the global community to mark the 2026 World Patient Safety Day.
The experts raised concerns over avoidable harm, medical errors and preventable deaths, stressing the need for stronger safeguards to protect patients and improve the quality of healthcare delivery.
They also called for improved accountability, better adherence to healthcare standards and stronger systems for identifying and preventing risks that could endanger patients.
The experts said greater attention to patient safety would help reduce preventable incidents and promote public confidence in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
