A Nigerian man has been accused of killing a railway worker in London following an alleged altercation at a train station after he missed a train.

The incident reportedly occurred at Ilford Station in east London, where the man allegedly became angry after missing a train to Stratford.

According to the case presented in court, railway workers approached him in an attempt to calm the situation. During the confrontation, he allegedly punched 61-year-old railway worker Jorge Ortega, causing him to fall and sustain serious head injuries.

Ortega was taken to hospital but died two days later from his injuries.

The accused is currently receiving treatment in hospital and has been deemed unfit to enter a plea or stand trial because of his medical condition.

The court is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the allegations against the accused.
