The ADC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Manir Dan’iya, has condemned the latest killings and mass abductions in Rabah Local Government Area, accusing the government of failing to adequately protect residents.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, on Tuesday, Dan’iya said the reported killing of a mother and her son, the deaths of 10 others and the abduction of about 40 people in Rabah on Sunday showed a worsening security situation.

He also expressed concern over an attack on Tofa village, where seven people were reportedly killed and 12 others abducted.

Dan’iya questioned how many more residents must be killed or kidnapped before the government acknowledges the severity of the security crisis in Sokoto.

He called for increased intelligence gathering, rapid response operations, stronger security presence and improved coordination among security agencies to protect vulnerable communities and rescue abducted residents.

Dan’iya also urged the Federal Government and Sokoto State Government to intensify efforts against banditry across the North West, insisting that repeated attacks required sustained security operations rather than occasional interventions.

He commiserated with families of those killed and prayed for the safe return of those abducted.

The ADC candidate promised that, if elected in 2027, his administration would prioritise the protection of lives and property through stronger intelligence gathering, improved coordination with security agencies and sustained operations against criminal networks.
