The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Jabir Yusuf, over the alleged shooting and killing of his friend, Hassan Mohamed, in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Monday in Rinjin Gura village, Zalau Ward. Police said Yusuf allegedly shot Mohamed with a Dane gun, hitting him in the neck.
Following the incident, police operatives reportedly rushed the victim to Toro General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by a doctor.
The police said the suspect was subsequently arrested and the alleged weapon recovered as an exhibit.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed investigators to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and cautioned residents against unlawful possession and careless handling of firearms.
