Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Nigerian international winger Femi Azeez from Millwall on a four-year contract, with sporting director Mike Cave expressing his delight at the club’s deadline-day acquisition.
The Premier League side finalised the deal after submitting a deal sheet before the initial 11pm transfer deadline, securing additional time to complete the move before the revised 1am deadline.
Azeez’s transfer is reportedly worth up to £15m, with Brighton paying an initial £12.5m and a further £2.5m-plus potentially due in performance-related add-ons.
Cave praised the 25-year-old for his outstanding campaign with Millwall and said Brighton were delighted to have secured his services.
“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad,” Cave said.
“He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs.
“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer. We now look forward to working with him.”
Azeez enjoyed a breakthrough 2025/26 campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 35 Championship appearances as Millwall reached the playoffs.
His performances earned him places in both the EFL Championship Team of the Season and the PFA Championship Team of the Year, further enhancing his reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous attacking players.
The Nigerian winger joined Millwall from Reading in 2024 for around £1m and went on to make 77 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and registering 13 assists.
His impressive development has now delivered a significant financial return for Millwall while giving Azeez the opportunity to test himself at the highest level of English football.
The move also represents another major step in Azeez’s rapidly developing international career.
His outstanding club form earned him a senior Nigeria call-up under Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, and he made an immediate impact on the international stage.
Azeez scored both goals on his Nigeria debut in June as the Super Eagles defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the Unity Cup.
Four days later, he provided an assist in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Jamaica as the Super Eagles successfully retained the trophy.
Brighton will now hope the winger can carry his goalscoring, creativity and attacking threat into the Premier League as he begins a new chapter of his career on the south coast.
For Azeez, the transfer marks the latest stage in a remarkable rise through the English football pyramid — from Reading to Millwall and now to the Premier League.
