Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has revealed that he once made not less than N10 million monthly from his akara and bread business before venturing into politics.

Eno made the disclosure during the state’s monthly covenant prayer service, where he reflected on his entrepreneurial journey and the lessons he gained from starting a small business.

The governor said he started by selling akara and bread, which he packaged and marketed as “Akara Burger”. He later expanded the business into a coffee shop.

According to Eno, the business attracted many customers, particularly workers heading to ExxonMobil in the mornings, who bought the akara and bread along with coffee.

He said the experience taught him valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, customer service and building a successful business from a small beginning.

The governor’s revelation comes months after First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to explore small businesses such as akara and kuli-kuli as a way of improving their livelihoods.
