Kwara State APC leaders have dismissed the significance of Senator Saliu Mustapha’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The leaders reaffirmed their support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, insisting that Mustapha’s departure would not weaken the party or affect its chances in the state.
Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial District in the Senate, recently defected from the APC to the PDP amid disagreements within the ruling party.
However, APC leaders maintained that the party remained strong and united, urging members to remain committed as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The development is expected to intensify the political contest in Kwara, particularly in the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
