Peter Obi has called on the Federal Government and other relevant authorities to take urgent and decisive action to end the persistent killings and insecurity across Nigeria.
Obi made the appeal while reacting to the reported killing of 32 people in Ungushi, Sokoto State, as well as fresh attacks in Ukum, Benue State, where several people were reportedly killed and others injured.
The former Anambra State governor described the killings as deeply painful, stressing that the victims were families, parents, children and breadwinners whose deaths had devastated their communities.
He called for improved intelligence gathering, proactive security operations, faster responses to attacks, better protection for vulnerable communities and the prosecution of those responsible for the violence.
His statement came as another attack in Binper community, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, reportedly claimed at least 26 lives, with several others injured or still missing.
Obi urged governments at all levels to prioritise the protection of lives and property, saying Nigerians should be able to live in their homes, travel on the roads and access their farms without fear.
