At least seven people have been killed after suspected bandits launched fresh attacks on communities in Katsina State, heightening concerns over the worsening security situation in the state.

The attackers reportedly targeted communities in Kankia Local Government Area, where residents were said to have been thrown into panic following the assault. Initial reports indicate that houses were also set ablaze during the attack.

The latest incident adds to a series of violent attacks linked to banditry across Katsina, where criminal groups have continued to target rural communities, farmers and other residents.

Security agencies are expected to intensify operations in affected areas to prevent further attacks and protect residents.

The development comes amid renewed efforts by security authorities to tackle banditry across the North-West, with Katsina remaining one of the states affected by the activities of armed groups.

Authorities had yet to provide a comprehensive official account of the latest attack at the time of this report.
