First City Monument Bank has increased the maximum amount customers can access through its FastCash digital loan facility to ₦500,000, expanding the short term financing available to eligible customers for urgent personal financial needs.
The bank said the facility is designed to provide customers with quick access to funds without collateral or paperwork, with applications available through its mobile banking platform and USSD channel.
Under the updated FastCash offering, eligible customers can access up to ₦500,000, while returning customers may also qualify for loan top ups depending on their available limit and repayment history. The facility has a maximum repayment period of three months.
The digital nature of the facility means customers do not need to visit a branch or provide a guarantor before applying. The bank says applications can be completed through the FCMB mobile application or by dialling 32911#.
According to the bank, FastCash is available to FCMB customers who meet its eligibility requirements. Customers are required to have maintained an FCMB account for at least three months to be considered for the facility.
The bank also said customers’ account activity is an important factor in determining eligibility, encouraging customers to transact regularly through their accounts.
The increased limit comes as digital lending continues to expand within Nigeria’s financial services industry, with banks and financial technology companies increasingly relying on technology to provide faster access to credit.
For individuals facing short term financial needs, instant digital loans can provide an alternative to conventional borrowing arrangements that may require extensive documentation or physical visits to financial institutions.
FCMB said FastCash applications can be completed in less than five minutes, although the actual amount available to each customer is subject to the bank’s risk assessment and credit scoring process.
The bank’s terms indicate that the loan is disbursed directly into the borrower’s FCMB account after the required assessment and approval process.
Customers are also allowed to repay their loans before the agreed due date through the bank’s digital channels. However, the applicable interest and other terms are determined by the facility’s conditions and the customer’s risk profile.
The higher loan ceiling is expected to give qualified customers greater access to emergency funding while reinforcing FCMB’s focus on digital banking and technology driven financial services.
The move also reflects the broader shift towards convenient and accessible credit products as customers increasingly seek financial services that can be accessed remotely.
However, borrowers are expected to assess their repayment capacity before taking up the facility, particularly because short term digital loans typically have relatively brief repayment periods.
With the new ₦500,000 maximum, FCMB FastCash provides eligible customers with a larger credit option for immediate financial needs while maintaining its paperless and collateral free structure.
The bank has continued to expand its digital banking offerings as part of efforts to make financial services more accessible and convenient for its customers.
