The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has pledged to ensure equitable distribution of public resources across the state’s three senatorial zones if elected governor in 2027.
Bawa made the promise during a town hall meeting with PDP stakeholders in Kaduna North Senatorial Zone, held in Zaria over the weekend.
He also promised to adopt a people-centred approach to governance, with budget preparation and implementation guided by the needs and priorities of residents rather than decisions imposed by government officials.
According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, the meeting attracted religious leaders, student groups, women and youth organisations, community development associations, party officials and PDP candidates contesting various elective positions.
The candidate, who attended the meeting alongside his running mate, Amos Adamu Gandu, said his proposed administration would prioritise fairness, accountability and respect for the rule of law.
He explained that communities would have a greater role in identifying their development needs and determining the projects government should prioritise.
Bawa also called on residents to support the PDP, presenting the proposed approach as a way to make governance more responsive to communities across Kaduna State.
Speaking at the meeting, the PDP zonal chairman, Alhaji Danbaba SayaSaya, urged party candidates to take their manifestos directly to voters and explain their plans for addressing public concerns.
The pledges form part of the PDP candidate’s campaign agenda ahead of the 2027 Kaduna State governorship election.
