Kenyan fintech company Pesaflow has opened discussions with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government over a possible partnership as the country expands the digitalisation of public services and business administration.

The company’s delegation, led by Director Jovis Omondji Okoth, met with the DRC Minister of Digital Economy, Augustin Kibassa Maliba, in Kinshasa on August 11 to explore areas of potential cooperation.

According to information from the meeting, discussions focused on digital business registries, beneficial ownership tracking, government revenue monitoring and digital public services.

Following the meeting, the minister directed his officials to continue discussions with Pesaflow and assess the possibility of establishing a formal partnership.

The proposed cooperation comes as the DRC intensifies efforts to develop its digital public infrastructure. In June, the country launched RDC Pass, a personal digital identification system designed to facilitate access to public services.

The government is also continuing to digitalise business registration procedures through its One Stop Shop for Business Creation, creating opportunities for technology companies providing government digital solutions.

Pesaflow already operates in several areas relevant to the DRC’s digital transformation, including payment processing, process automation, registry management, revenue tracking and data services.

In Kenya, the company is associated with the eCitizen ecosystem and the Business Registration Service, providing digital platforms through which users can submit applications, make payments and obtain administrative documents online.

Pesaflow says it has nearly 14 years of experience and operates across seven African countries, with projects in Kenya, Malawi and South Sudan.

The potential partnership could allow the DRC to draw on Pesaflow’s experience in digital government services as it continues efforts to modernise public administration and improve access to services.
